John Barrow Political Internship Available
Here’s a great opportunity for anyone looking to get their feet wet in the political job world:
John Barrow is a Democratic U.S. Congressman that represents the 12th District of Georgia. He is currently in his second term as a U.S. Congressman.
Our Campaign Headquarters is always looking for hard working students and volunteers that are interested in the political process. We are currently taking applications and filling positions at our campaign office in Savannah.
The Internship Program is designed to allow students to apply lessons learned in class to a work environment, to make professional contacts, to obtain extensive knowledge of government agencies, and to learn how a Campaign functions. In today’s job market, the experience that an internship provides is a valuable opportunity for career development. The program is without compensation. However, students may earn academic credit.
The campaign office is in charge of campaign fundraising and grassroots effort around the district for our 2008 re-election campaign. Some of the duties of an intern include:
o Help facilitate fundraising events
o Help facilitate political events, rallies, and parades.
o Interact with donors
o Maintain and update NGP database, previous knowledge of NGP unnecessary
o Assist in general office tasks
o Research and writing skills needed
o Assist with mailings
o Microsoft Office experience necessary
If you are interested in this exciting internship possibility please contact Chris Baggett at (912) 232-2330 or send your resume to baggewc@gmail.com
Note: they are looking for internships for over this summer, too. Obviously it’s hard for UGA students to make the drive to Savannah to work during the semester, but anyone looking for work in Savannah should seriously consider applying for this position!
