Campaign Plan

Be involved and help get Democrats elected! Our campaign plan for the semester is:

1) Our goal is to log in 500 total campaigning hours by November 7, 2006. You can help us reach this goal by working on any Democrat campaign. Then email Ashley at aberash@uga.edu with your name, number of hours, and who you worked for. By November 7, if we’ve reached our goal, we’ll have a reward better than most anything you could imagine (seriously). We’ll give updates at meetings and on the website as to how close we are to reaching our goal.

2) The Young Democrats of UGA/ACC have teamed up with Jane Kidd and Doug McKillip this election season. Any hours logged in with these two candidates work toward another incentive - we’ll take you to dinner. Drop by and volunteer to make phone calls, to canvass, to fold letters, anything. Call ahead, make sure someone’s in the office, and drop in! Contact information for both offices is at the bottom of this post.

To make it easier, we will be setting up organized times that you can join a large group of us to phone bank or canvass, if you don’t want to drop in alone. The dates we have set up so far are:

a) September 30, 9:30 - 12:30, Canvassing for Jane Kidd
b) November 4, 9:30 - 12:30, Canvassing for Jane Kidd

We’ll be posting more as we set them up - make sure to check the calendar for more information and for updates.

For us to take you to dinner, you must log in a certain number of hours for either Jane or Doug. Each candidate will have a Young Democrats sign in sheet at their headquarters. We’ll be keeping track of hours by periodically totalling the hours logged on these sign-up sheets. The cut-offs are:

a)October 1 - 12 cumulative hours
b) November 1 - 24 cumulative hours
3) Finally, we’ll be supporting Jane, Doug, other candidates, and Democrats in general by attending and volunteering at various fundraisers and Democratic mixers. Right now, the event we’ve committed to is tailgating at the Clarke County Democrat/Jane Kidd’s Headquarters every weekend before home football games. So come join us and help pass out Democrat paraphernalia and drinks on the terrace! For more information and updates, check our calendar.
